Username & Trademark Policy
last updated: June 22, 2026
This policy is part of our Terms of Use. Artifacky is operated by Artifacky Pte Ltd, a company incorporated in Singapore.
Artifacky gives every user a handle — the @name in your profile and artifact links (artifacky.com/@yourhandle). This policy explains how handles work, how a brand or notable person can claim or protect one, and what happens if we need to reassign a handle.
Handles are licensed, not owned
Your handle is yours to use while your account is in good standing, but you don't own it. We may reclaim or reassign a handle in the situations described below. A short list of well-known names is reserved and can't be registered directly.
When we may reclaim or reassign a handle
We may reclaim, rename, or reassign a handle when it:
- infringes or is confusingly similar to someone else's trademark;
- impersonates a person, brand, or organization, or falsely implies an affiliation;
- was registered or is used in bad faith — for example, to sell it or to block a brand from using its own name; or
- breaks our Terms of Use.
Coincidental or good-faith use of a name is not, by itself, impersonation. A fan account, a personal name that happens to match a brand, or non-commercial use may be allowed to continue. We weigh the claimant's rights against the current holder's legitimate use.
If you represent a brand or notable name
To claim or protect a handle, contact us at hello@artifacky.com with:
- the handle you're claiming;
- proof of your rights — a trademark registration number, or evidence you officially represent the brand or person (for example, a verifiable email at the brand's domain); and
- a brief description of the conflict.
We review each request individually. We may ask for more information. We don't guarantee any outcome.
What happens to the current holder
If we decide to reassign a handle that someone is already using, our standard practice — except in cases of clear bad faith or active impersonation — is to:
- give the current holder reasonable notice;
- move their account and existing artifacts to a new handle; and
- redirect their old links to the new handle for a grace period, so their shared work keeps resolving.
Nothing is deleted as part of a reassignment. In clear-cut cases of squatting or impersonation, we may act without advance notice.
